With the regional finals now under their belt, the Pakuranga team, which won the Auckland Men’s Division 2 National Interclub title, now has Palmerston North firmly in their sights.
The regional final was held in Whangarei last Sunday and the Pakuranga team dropped only two games of their nine to pip Browns Bay at the post on a better net total of shots.
A clean sweep in the first round set the Pakuranga side up with a good advantage and two out of three in both the next rounds was enough to earn them the title.
Balmoral Women were second in the Women’s Division 2 section but with 7 points were well beaten by Kensington who finished on 18 points.
Carlton Cornwall, in Women’s Division 1 finished the day in third spot and St Heliers, Men’s Division 1 representatives, finished in fourth place
In Men’s Division 1 Kensington started the day strongly winning all three games in the first round and then only picked up one more game in the next six to watch Browns Bay cruise from one win tin the first round to pick up their final six games and take the first prize of the trip to Palmerston North.
The National Finals will be played on 25th and 26th March and Auckland Bowls wishes the Pakuranga side the very best of luck for the finals.
