Disabled Pairs Final
15 Feb 2018
For the first time in the 11 year history of The Trusts New Zealand Open the disabled pairs final will be played on the TV rink at Blockhouse Bay Bowls. The disabled events are usually played at a time when the TV rink is yet to be set up, but a change in the playing scheduled allowed the change for 2018.
Norman Earnshaw and David Stallard (with Director Peter Blick) will take on Peter Whiting and Jill Brierley with the final set to get underway at 2pm on Friday. Six rounds were played in qualifying to find the finalists. Earnshaw and Stallard ended with 15 points, plus 64, with Whiting and Brierley ending on 13 points, plus 24.
They drew each other in the very first round of qualifying yesterday with Earnshaw and Stallard taking a narrow 11-9 win. On this basis it should be a very close final!
