Para Bowls Side Named
23 Nov 2017
Congratulations to Auckland's David Stallard and Peter Blick (both Carlton Cornwall) for being named in the New Zealand Para Lawn Bowls Team for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. They join Sue Curran, Ann Muir, Bruce Wakefield, Mark Noble and Barry Wynks who have also been selected.
Fiona Allen, Chief Executive of Paralympics New Zealand says "it
is exciting to see such experienced and knowledgeable Para lawn bowls teams
taking on another Commonwealth Games after such a strong performance in Glasgow
in 2014. The hard work and commitment of the Para lawn bowls team are evident
in the strong results the whole team has received in recent competitions both
internationally and within New Zealand".
The announcement was made yesterday by Kereyn Smith Secretary General of NZ Olympic Committee along
with Bowls NZ CEO Mark Cameron at Carlton Cornwall Bowls.
David Stallard (Auckland) with Director Peter Blick (Auckland); Sue Curran (Waikato) and Director Ann Muir (Whangarei) were named as the visually impaired Lawn Bowls Team to represent NZ.
Throughout the morning at Carlton Cornwall, the newly named team tutored children from Parafed Auckland on bowling techniques.
The team will attend a training camp on the Gold Coast in late January as preparations ramp up for the April event.
