Auckland Secondary Interschools Final
29 Aug 2017
Yesterday saw the Final of the Auckland Secondary Interschools competition played between St Peter's College and St Dominic's College. The weather was less than ideal, but the youngsters battled through - umbrellas at the ready - showing great skills and tenacity.
St Peter's triumphed, taking all three of the Pairs matches convincingly. However the end scores did not reflect the calibre of the competition. Once the rain cleared there were some really good bowls played, in the end the more experienced St Peter's side prevailed.
For some of these players this will be their last interschools competition, we hope to see them continue with bowls and that they join the many talented Auckland juniors on the greens this summer. For some, being in a final was a relatively new experience and we hope to see them next year.
A huge thank you to the teachers and coaches for all their time, efforts and encouragement. Thanks to the supporters and a special thanks to Epsom Bowls and Graeme Clisby for hosting this event.
Scores: St Peter's beat St Dominic's 16-6, 25-4, 15-4.
