Successful and Sustainable Clubs

27 Jun 2017

Auckland Bowls has released a report that will be the blue print to creating a network of Successful and Sustainable Clubs.  A presentation was made following the AGM last night which received a very positive response from those in attendance.

A key strategy of Auckland Bowls is to produce a network of clubs that are both successful and sustainable, not just for now but for many years to come. The report recommends a pathway for this to be achieved. But it is not a strategy that can be achieved without the support of club leaders and their clubs.

The key aim of the report is to:

  • Develop a view of how a "successful and sustainable club network" may look in the future.

  • Initiate discussion between bowling clubs and with key decision makers and funders within the Auckland region over the future bowls network.

  • Assist with the long term decision making and re-focus of resources that Auckland Bowls will be required to make.

  • To identify how to achieve Strategic Goal One of the Auckland Bowls Strategic Plan - Ensure a Sustainable Network of Clubs™.

After considering previous reports and the current situation the outcome of the report is to create a proposed network plan that categorises current clubs into the following two areas:

  1. Club Groups

  2. Community Clubs in Distinct Location

Clubs have been grouped with neighbouring clubs to produce 11 Club Groups.  There are a further six clubs that are considered Community Clubs.  The plan acknowledges that one size does not fit all.  We cannot treat all clubs the same.
