It is with great shock and sadness that we announce the passing of Ieremia (Chris) Salesa. Chris joined the Auckland Bowls Board late last year bringing with him a long history in the sport through Pacifika bowls and the East Tamaki Bowling Club.
Chris was a very humble man who gave outstanding service to bowls. He was an active member of East Tamaki being involved on the Match Committee and as Tournament Director for many years. Chris was a strong advocate for Pacifika bowls as President of the Pacifika Bowling Club from 2014 - 2016. He also represented Samoa at World Bowls last year in Christchurch and won multiple medals at the recent World Masters Games. This season Chris won the Auckland Club Championship Triples with club mates Malcolm Wright and Leon Wenzlick and was third equal in the Auckland Men's Singles.
Chris played bowls throughout Auckland on a regular basis and will be greatly missed.
Our deepest condolences to his family, friends and bowls mates.
