Women's Semi Finals:
The Semi Final between Eileen Badham and Helen Blick (Kohimarama) vs Brenda Bradford and Robyn Fisher (Hillsboro Women's) was a Kohimarama game early on. Badham and Blick played excellent bowls winning some big ends and taking a convincing lead which they held onto to give them their spot through to the Women's Auckland Club Championship Pairs Final winning 21-6
The second Semi Final between Karen Hema, Selina Goddard (Carlton Cornwall) and Vickey Peterson and Titia Ryder (Waiheke) was a game that also always had one team in the lead which today was Hema and Goddard. Peterson and Ryder did give them a good push but could never quite get the lead, Hema and Goddard going through to the Final winning 17-11.
An excellent Final between Karen Hema, Selina Goddard (Carlton Cornwall) and Eileen Badham, Helen Blick (Kohimarama). Hema and Goddard took the first 3 ends then dropped the following 4 ends giving Badham and Blick a 9-4 lead in the 7th end. The 9th and 10th ends were both 3's for Hema and Goddard giving them the lead right through to the 14th end when the game was all tied up 12-12. From here Badham and Blick took the lead again but not for long - Hema and Goddard played some great bowls to win the last 3 ends giving them the title of Auckland Women's Club Champion Pairs for 2017 winning 18-13.
Men's Semi Finals:
The first Semi Final winner we have is Warwick Frederickson and Glenn Rich (Blockhouse Bay) who beat Mike Haysham and Colin Haysham (Waiheke) 18-3. Frederickson and Rich proved too strong for Haysham and Haysham today starting with a big 3 on the first end and continued the strong scoring end to end. The Waiheke team conceded in the 11th end.
Next through to the Finals is Logo Simanu and Mike Bradshaw (Onehunga & Districts) beating Chris Lowe and Peter Thorne (Hillsboro) 21-14. The Onehunga & Districts pairing started with a bang leading 6-0 after the 2nd end. In the 8th end Lowe and Thorne picked up a massive 6 which gave them the lead 9-8. Hillsboro held on to the lead for 2 ends then it was all Simanu and Bradshaw's game, a last ditch effort from Lowe and Thorne wasn't enough to reclaim the lead losing the game 21-14.
The Final between Warwick Frederickson and Glenn Rich (Blockhouse Bay) vs Logo Simanu and Mike Bradshaw (Onehunga & Districts) was always going to be a great game with these 4 talented bowlers. The game started out end for end with Simanu and Bradshaw leading the majority of the beginning part of the game, it was all tied in the 8th end 8-8. Again Simanu and Bradshaw took the lead briefly, but Frederickson and Rich found their rythem and from the 11th end they won some big scoring ends giving them a solid lead. The game finished with Frederickson and Rich winning 23-12.
