Entries OPEN for The Trusts New Zealand Open
18 Oct 2016
We are very excited to be holding the 10th anniversary event of The Trusts New Zealand Open from the 14th - 22nd February 2017.
Auckland Bowls will once again offer online entry and payment. Please note that entry forms are no longer sent by post. We look forward to returning to Blockhouse Bay Bowls for post section play as well as using up to 20 clubs across Auckland for qualifying.
Entries close on Wednesday 4th January 2017 at 5pm. Entry forms can be found by clicking here.
The playing formats remain the same as in previous years with Singles, Pairs and Triples for Men and Women as well as Any Combination Pairs and Triples for people with a disability.
The disabled events will take place at Blockhouse Bay Bowls from Saturday 18th to Monday 20th February.
Following our player survey and annual review we have made four key changes:
1. The pairs and triples will now play to 18 ends, rather than 15 ends as has previously been the case. The format for the singles remains as first to 21 shots. To ensure the tournament runs to schedule, the time limit has been reduced slightly to two and a quarter hours for all disciplines. Qualifying will be played in sections of four to determine the required number of qualifiers.
2. ALL post section play will be at Blockhouse Bay Bowls. To achieve this we have to move the scheduling around with a slightly earlier start and later finish but it should create a fantastic festival of bowls at Blockhouse Bay.
3. A new inclement weather policy is being developed to ensure that there are clear rules in place and coordination across all venues should the rain arrive.
4. The televised finals will now start at 10am, 1pm and 4pm to try and encourage more spectators to the venue by avoiding early morning traffic congestion.
The countdown is on so get your teams together and get your entries in prior to the closing date of Wednesday 4th January 2017!
If there is anything you are unsure about, please do not hesitate to contact the Auckland Bowls office on (09) 623 3555. Further information is available HERE.
