Winter Interclub up and running

04 Jul 2016

The new season has begun with the first event underway!  The first two rounds of Winter Interclub were played on Sunday in fine but wintery conditions across Auckland.

In Section One West End Warriors have made the perfect start with four wins from four games.  Glendowie Rosellas sat out the first round bye and then showed they will be a force completing two wins against Grey Lynn to also remain unbeaten.

Section two is headed by Pt Chevalier Swashbucklers who had four wins, with St Heliers Gold, Epsom and Howick Fencibles all in second equal on six points.  Section three sees East Tamaki ITM Aces take the early lead with the maximum four wins.  Intransit Mt Eden also remain unbeaten in this section with two wins having had their bye.

It looks like Section four will be tightly contested with every team having at least one loss on the day.  Bridge Park are the early leaders with nine points followed by East Tamaki ITM Jacks with seven, who managed two wins, one draw and one loss on the day.

The final section has Mangere Kotuku in the lead with the maximum four wins (12 points), with Pt Chev Pitates hard on their heals with nine points.  The upcoming fixture between these two teams may well decide the section winners.  Time will tell!

Rounds three and four will be played on Sunday 10th July.
