Champion of Champion Fours Semi Finals run-down

First up in the Auckland Men's Champion of Champion was Chris Lowe, Jordan King, Martin Dixon, Ciaran  MacElvanna ( Hillsboro) vs Vladimir Marsic,Tony Garelja, Nick Krajancic, Max Hamilton (Carlton Cornwall). The game started slowly for both teams. The score was 2-2 in the 4th end. Hillsboro kept chipping away at Carlton Cornwall winning the final 5 ends to bring the score to 16-3 giving Hillsboro the win into the final.

The second Men's Semi final was between Richard Watson, Bob McKendry, John Merideth, Adam Wishnoski (New Lynn) and Wayne Ruka, W Dawson, W Wichman, P Reid (Pringle Park). This was a great semi-final with both teams playing some excellent bowls. New Lynn started the scoring with Pringle Park right behind them. The game was all tied up in the 7th end 6-6. New Lynn won the next end to take the lead to 8-6 but Pringle Park came back with a big end and won 5 taking the lead from New Lynn, 11-8. New Lynn kept pushing and it was still anyones game with it all tied up again in the 14th end 13-13. Pringle Park won the game winning the 15th end with a 2 bringing the final score to 15-13.

In the Women's first Semi-final it was Sheryl Johnson, Alzeena Levi, Christine Sibley, Joy Hall (Otahuhu Railway) vs Angela Temple, Sue Scott, Gail Clark, Jenny Stockford (Pt Chevalier). This was a real edge of your seat game to watch with both teams playing a great semi-final! It was neck and neck for the entirety of the game. Pt Chevalier held the lead until the 10th end where Otahuhu Railway tied up the game and looked to be making a run to take the win. The game was tied up again in the 15th end so an extra end was played with Pt Chevalier nudging through to win 13-12.

The 2nd semi final in the Women was Pauline Harris, Mere Ansell, Rachael Hancock, Leah Morgan (New Lynn) vs Claire Lines Donna Cross, Diana Crowe, Karena Harris (Mt Eden). Mt Eden were first up on the score board and came out strong winning a 4 in the 2nd end taking an early lead 5-0. New Lynns answer was to  win an end with a 4 also bring the score to 4-5. It wasn't looking like good news for Mt Eden when the dropped 4 ends in a row giving New Lynn the lead 10-7 in the 9th end. Mt Eden found their stride and took 5 ends off New Lynn giving them back the lead 15-10 in the 13th end. New Lynn won a 3 in the 14th end but it wasn't enough to clinch the win the game going to Mt Eden 16-13.
