Round up of last weeks bowls results
Centre Men's Fours:
The rain(hail) delayed quarter-finals were completed with Terry Stewart(Papanui Club) defeating John Mears (Halswell) by 17-15 and Andy Bramham (Halswell) defeating Paul McAllister (Woolston Park) by the same score 17-15.
In the semi-finals Trevor Kennett (Bowls Hornby) came from behind when 4 down playing the last end and scoring a six to defeat Shayne Sincock (Belfast) by 13-11. The other match saw Terry Stewart (Papanui Club) reaching another final, after their great showing in the Nationals, when they beat Andy Bramham (Halswell) by 21-17.
The Final will be held during Finals week-end at the Centre Green on the 30th/31st January 2016.
Centre Men's Triples:
With the Rick Day trio from Rangiora already through to the final there were some catch-up games last week-end to see who will join them.
Lance Pascoe (Belfast) scored a 2 on the last end to defeat Paul Mckinnell (Elmwood) by one shot 14-13.
Rod Greaney (Elmwood) defeated Paul Matheson (Halswell) by 18-7 and then went on to beat Neil Johnstone (Elmwood) by 16-12.
Pascoe and Greaney will clash in the semi-final at the Centre Green on Saturday 23rd January 2016 starting at 1.30pm.
Centre Men's Interclub Division 2 - 7' play offs:
Last week-end also saw the playing of the quarter-finals of the Men's Division Two 7's competition.
There were wins for Bowls Papanui 1 (defeating Darfield 2), Canterbury 1 (defeating Sumner 1), Christchurch 1 (defeating Woolston Park 1) and Burnside 2 (defeating Kaiapoi Club 1).
The semi-finals will be played at the Centre Green on Saturday 23rd January 2016 starting at 1.30pm with Bowls Papanui v. Canterbury & Christchurch v. Burnside.
The busy week-end continued on Sunday with Section Play in the Centre Men's and Women's Pairs.
There were 21 qualifiers in the Men's section and 12 qualifiers in the Women's see web site for Post Section draw which will be played on Sunday 24th January 2016 with the men at Elmwood and Rangiora and the women at Beckenham with a 9am start.
Vets Double Pairs:
The action continued on Monday morning when the Centre Green hosted the final of the above competition and a very exciting encounter it turned out to be with the match decided on ends won after the match finished tied.
In the game itself B.McPartilin and D.Ansett (Parklands) defeated B.McMaster and A.Hughes (Morrison Avenue) by 14-12 and L.Reed and K.Johnson (Morrison Avenue) defeating B.Millar and P. Musson (Parklands) 12-10.
This left the match tied at 1-win each and the aggregate tied at 24-24 with Parklands prevailing on ends won by 17-15.
