Auckland Women's Triples Finalists

It was Carlton Cornwall vs Carlton Cornwall and Onehunga & Districts vs St Heliers Semi Finals today. Four strong teams up against each other which meant for two great battles.

Karen de Jong, Judi Wong and Bev Crowe (Carlton Cornwall) played Karen Hema, Linda Ralph and Rebecca Jelley. de Jongh was first on the bored with a 3 and this was followed up by winning another 2 ends making their lead 5-3 in the 5th end. Hema took a 2 in the 6th end to even up the game. de Jongh managed to take another 1 in the 7th end but lost the next 3 ends bring the score to 10-6 to Hema in the 10th end.  Winning another 3 ends cemented Hema win with a score of 17-7 in the 14th end even after a huge end went to de Jongh taking 4 in the 15th end.  The final score was 19-11 to Hema, Ralph, and Jelley.

The second Semi Final between Maria Smith, Aggie Motu and Kirsty Hill (Onehunga & Districts) and Catherine Bien, Sue Curran and Paula Kempthorne (St Heliers) was a real edge of your seat watch. St Heliers started the scoring winning the first 2 ends and then taking 3 in the 4th end bring the score to 8-1 in the 5th end to St Heliers. Onehunga & Districts found their game and came back strong winning 4 in the 8th end but still not managing to take the lead off St Heliers 7-10.  Onehunga & Districts persevered and evened up the game in the 14th end 13-13. St Heliers made a great shot to take the lead again in the 14th end 14-13 - but Onehunga & Districts proved too strong and won the last 2 ends winning the games 16-14.

The Final for the Auckland Women Triples will be played on the weekend of the 13th and 14th February 2016.
