North Harbour retain Title

07 Oct 2015

North Harbour proved too strong for Auckland in the annual Battle of the Bridge event that was held at Mt Eden on Sunday.

The annual challenge was played in overcast gloomy weather but the standard of the games was far from gloomy with some great bowls played by all the players. The feature was that all the morning games played in the men's section were decided on the last bowl or on the last end. Unfortunately for Auckland the scoreboard did not reflect this with North Harbour taking out all five matches.  The Auckland Women were more successful however and powered ahead to win four of the five matches.

The afternoon games proved to be a similar story with the Auckland Men again losing all five matches to end the day without a win.  The results on paper were no reflection on the quality of play and the team will no doubt be determined to reverse their fortunes when the next representative fixture is played in December.

The women's section showed the dominance of Auckland throughout the day as they went on to win the afternoon test as well.

Men:  North Harbour 10 wins - Auckland 0

Women: North Harbour 3 - Auckland 7

Overall North Harbour 13 - Auckland 7

Congratulations to North Harbour and thank you to the Mt Eden Bowling Club for hosting the day.
