Prize Money Boost for The Trusts New Zealand Open

07 Aug 2015

The total prize pool for the 2015 The Trusts New Zealand Open has been increased to $40,000.

The event which started in 2007 with a prize pool of $30,000 has grown in popularity throughout the years.  This has given the organisers confidence to add a further $5,000 to last years prize pool for a total of $40,000 up for grabs.  The Trusts New Zealand Open will be held from the 19th - 27th November 2015.

New home for 2015

Due to green renovations being undertaken at Henderson Bowls the main headquarters will transfer to Blockhouse Bay Bowls Club for 2015.  Henderson Bowls will still be an integral part of the event with two greens to be used for qualifying and in the initial days of post section play.  The televised finals will take place at Blockhouse Bay.

We are very pleased to have a close working relationship with both clubs and together with many other clubs throughout Auckland (for qualifying) we look forward to once again hosting a successful tournament.

Online Entry

In a season of firsts we are very excited to offer online entry and payment for the first time this year.  We hope this will streamline the entry process and make it easier for all bowlers to take part in this great event.

Entries close on Friday 2nd October 2015 at 5pm.  Entry forms can be found by clicking here.

Playing Formats

The playing formats remain the same as in previous years with Singles, Pairs and Triples for Men and Women as well as Any Combination Pairs and Triples for people with a disability.

The disabled events will take place at Blockhouse Bay Bowls from Saturday 21st to Monday 23rd November.

The format for the singles is first to 21 shots, the pairs (3 bowls per player) and triples (2 bowls per player) play to 15 ends, with a time limit of two and a half hours for all disciplines.  Qualifying will be played in sections of four to determine the required number of qualifiers.

The Main Draw of the Men's Singles and Men's Pairs will start with 64 players/teams and all other disciplines will start with a field of 32.  As with the past couple of years only the defending champions of each discipline will receive a direct entry.  Qualifying will no doubt be as competitive as ever in order to earn a spot in the main draw.

The countdown is on so get your teams together and submit your entry prior to the closing date of Friday 2nd October!
