Robin Ellery Trophy Success

29 Mar 2015

The Northern Regional Development Intercentre got underway on Saturday 28th March, at Henderson Bowling Club. Due to inclement weather the Men’s and Women’s Singles were pushed back to today Sunday 29th March.

Both games were excellent and went right down to the wire! The Men's and Women's Singles were deciders for North Harbour getting through to Day 2. Steve Hoeft was up against  Peter Nathan (North Harbour). Steve was never far behind Nathan but couldn't quite nudge him out of the lead. Steve gave him a bit of a scare in the 12th end gaining a 3 to bring the score to 14-11 but then missed scoring the following 2 ends. Steve was 1pt behind in the 19th end 16-15 but Peter Nathan got a 4 to finish the game 21-15.

In the Women's Singles our Auckland player Paula Kempthorne was playing Connie Mathieson (North Harbour). Connie started the scoring with a 2 and a 3 in the first 2 ends. Paula stayed in the game getting 3 1's in a row in ends 6,7and 8 bringing the score to 6-5 in the 8th end. Paula snuck into the lead with a 2 in the 12th end 9-7. Connie evened up the score in the 15th end 10-10 and then took the lead again in the 17th end with a 3 to take the score to 13-12. Paula turned the volume up on her game and took the final 6 ends to finish the game 21-14.

(Due to bad weather all Singles games were reduced to 21 shots)
