Auckland 2-4-2 Mixed Pairs.
The Auckland 2-4-2 Mixed Pairs has reached the Semi- Finals stage after a busy weekend of competition. The Semi’s and Final will be held on the Reserve Day of 14th December at Hillsboro Bowls (TBC). The Semi -Finalists are Barclay Lee and Catherine Bien (St Heliers) vs Ivan Zonich and Fay Yates (Composite); Sam Toloke and Rima Strickland (Grey Lynn) vs Dale Knight and Jenny Stockford (Henderson). Games will commence at 9am.
In Section play the team of Barclay Lee and Catherine Bien from St Heliers won convincingly to make it through to Post Section play, only getting a bit of a nudge from John Ross and Esther Eu in game two with a score of 15-11. The Quarter Final went to the allotted time limit against Tusi Tumua and Joy Hall from Mangere with a final score of 13-10. Ivan Zonich and Fay Yates had to play hard to get their three wins in Section Play but came back with three easy wins in Post Section Play, beating Terry Makira and Emma Waerehu from Mangere 21-8 to get them through to the Semi-Final. Sam Toloke and Rima Strickland from Grey Lynn had a bumpy start only just winning against Wayne Moto from Carlton Cornwall 14-13. Grey Lynn continued with two easy wins through to Post Section play, here they continued the winning streak with three very close games 18 -16, 16-15 and 18-16. The last game going to the full allotted time with one end left to play against Barry Aspin and Doreen Jensen. Dale Knight and Jenny Stockford from Henderson made it through Section Play with two convincing wins. First game in Post Section play was a very close one, only just beating Grant Goodwin and Collen Pert from Hillsboro 13-12. 1 easy win and another close win in the Quarter Final against Phil and Lesley McLinden from Mangere 15-11 got them a spot in the Semi-Final.
