A Winning Weekend for Men's Triples and Women's Singles
11 Nov 2014
Mike Galloway, Martin Dixon and Gavin Brown (Hillsboro) have successfully taken out the 2014 Auckland Men's Triples.
The game was exciting with the side of Nick Thompson, Peter Hurle and Graham Growcott (Blockhouse Bay) giving Hillsboro something to think about by sneaking in a few very well placed bowls. Hillsboro’s answer to this was to storm ahead with a 21-9 win.
Earlier in the day the winning Hillsboro side had a heart-thumper against John Flowers, Barclay Lee, and Allan Spence (St Helier’s) with Hillsboro grabbing the win with a final score of 14-13.
In the Women’s Singles Semi Final - Doreen Jenson (Onehunga & Districts) beat Paula Kempthorne (St Heliers) and Bev Crowe (Carlton Cornwall) beat Helen Van der Walt (Carlton Cornwall) all four women being very experienced players leading to a top notch Semi-Final. Doreen Jenson and Bev Crowe coming out on top with a 21-15 win and a 21-12 win respectively.
This Final could not be
