Saturday Interclub Underway
06 Oct 2014
Despite some very difficult conditions the upper divisions of Men's and Women's Saturday Interclub got underway on Saturday. Both scheduled rounds were completed for Men's and Women's Premier and Division One as well as Men's Division Two. Unfortunately due to the poor weather conditions, particularly in the days leading up to the weekend, the remaining divisions were cancelled for the day.
Blockhouse Bay and Onehunga have the early running in Men's Premier both with a four win two loss record. They are followed by Carlton Cornwall, St Heliers, Mangere and Howick all of whom had a three win three loss opening day. This is shaping up as a very tight battle for overall honours.
In the Women's Premier division Pakuranga and Howick both took advantage of playing on their home greens and sit atop the table at this early stage. They are followed by Carlton Cornwall, St Heliers and Mangere.
East Tamaki are the early pace setters in Men's Division One recording just the one loss for the day. Sitting on 10 points they have a two point lead over Howick and Blockhouse Bay. In Women's Division One it is the Pt Chevalier Pirates with the early lead also on 10 points. The chasing clubs are Mt Wellington and Henderson, just one win behind.
St Heliers hold the advantage on Men's Division Two with four wins and a draw from their six outings. The are closely followed by Mt Eden and Pakuranga.
Thanks to everyone for persevering in difficult conditions and let's hope this Saturday offers up better conditions to enable all divisions to get underway. Play will continue as scheduled with all divisions playing rounds three, four and five. The Any Combination 6's Division will play rounds 3 and 4 at Kohimarama Bowling Club.
