Winter Interclub Carries On

14 Jul 2014

How lucky could we get with the weather that allowed Rounds 3 and 4 of the Winter Interclub to be played yesterday after such a terrible week of weather.

In Section 1 it is a tight squeeze at the top of the table with one more round to be played. Epsom Eaglets have nudged out in Transit  with a superior net total of shots. Both are sitting on 12 points as is Avondale Spiders in third position. The final round where Epsom and Mt Eden will clash will probably decide the section. Avondale will be taking on a lower placed Hillsboro Hillbillies so they may come through as the others take each other out.

In Section 2 St George hold a slim margin of one point over East Tamaki Aces. Pakuranga is another couple of points back and again East Tamaki Aces and Pakuranga will play their round this week. St George has a bye this week so will not be changing points until the scaling for the bye is completed.

In Section 3 Carlton Cornwall will be looking for a clean sweep against FR84U Bridge Park to pip them at the post. FR84U Bridge Park is sitting on 14 pts, +100 and Carlton Cornwall is 12 pts +35 at this stage.  Placemakers Westgate Hillsboro is on third with 10 pts +30 so it is hard to see them being able to topple the section leaders.

Section 4 is as tightly squeezed as Section 1 with Edendale Swampies, West End Warriors and Pringle Herons all sitting on 12 points.  Again the top two will play each other in the last round which may let Pringle Herons through to take the section as they are playing bottom placed Avondale Reds this week.

In Section 5 there is another top of the table clash with Blockhouse Bay against Pt Chevalier Pirates. Blockhouse Bay will need to win at least one of the games and should then win the section as they are four points and +78 ahead of Pt Chevalier.

Remuera Blue and Gold Two are six points ahead of the field in Division 6 at this stage but they have also played all their games. With only four points up for grabs this week  they will retain the top spot over East Tamaki Jacks and Glendowie Blue on six points currently.  East Tamaki plays Hillsboro Women's this week and  Glendowie are against Hillsboro. Good luck to all sides for the final game and we hope that the weather continues to play its part this Sunday. Clubs making the playoffs for the next best two sides will be notified by the office once scaling for the byes has taken place.

All post section games will be at New Lynn hopefully on 27th July commencing at 9.00am.
