Auckland Youth Team Wins Waikato Challenge
10 Jun 2014
The Annual Waikato Challenge was played at Frankton Bowling Club over the weekend with the young Auckland Team coming out on top.
Players selected at the Auckland and Waikato championships went head-to-head in the annual event which is used as a hit out for the Regional Secondary School Competition to be played later this year.
The Auckland team made up of both new and experienced players performed well in their first challenge with great bowls from all the players.
The winners in the boy’s event were Aiden Takarua and Terrence King winning their games by large margins, not to be outdone by the girl’s combination of Mackenzie Blucher and Alex Greer, winners in their event. Final result: Auckland 18 points Waikato 14 points.
Well done to all the players.
A return challenge will be played on on Sunday 22nd June at the Mt Eden Bowling Club. Coaches: Christine Sibley and Leon Chapman.
