Auckland Grammar School Too Good
29 May 2014
The Secondary Schools Championships continued this week at Remuera and Kohimarama Bowling clubs in difficult weather conditions, this however had no effect on the quality of play with some magnificent heads played by our students.
Auckland Grammar School was dominant in the Boy’s Pairs claiming all four spots in the semi-finals. The Pairs combination of Nick Boyden and Tom Livingston showed great skill and maturity going through the tournament unbeaten. They were too strong for George Kirkwood and James Sandlin winning the event by seven shots (10 – 3). The Girls Pairs were also complete at Kohimarama Bowling Club with an all St Dominic’s affair with the Pairs combination of Antonia Victor and Kate Cassidy winning comfortably against Michelle Greer and Monique Barnes. Antonia and Kate add another title to the Secondary School National’s played in Wellington last year (Winner and runner up in the Plate).
The Singles events were also played this week. In the Boys Singles; Terrence King (Mt Albert Grammar) and Aiden Takarua (St Peters College) will face off for the title. In the Girls Singles the players to meet in the semi-finals are: Mackenzie Blucher (2013 Champion) vs Kate Cassidy and Alex Greer vs Antonia Victor. These games will be played by special arrangement due to school examinations.
Thank you to Joan Lynskey and Esther Eu and the friendly volunteers, the school coordinators, parents and supporters that assisted with marking and all the clubs involved in this project.
