Future Stars on Show

21 Apr 2014

The Kittyhawk National Under 20 Singles Championships were held at Pakuranga over Easter.  Played in sometimes difficult conditions the sport appears to have a positive future with some outstanding performances from a number of bowlers.

Auckland's Selina Goddard was unable to defend her title, but put up a good fight in going down to Tayla Bruce (Canterbury) in the semi final.  The title was won by Ashleigh Jeffcoat (Waikato) who overcame Bruce 21-16 in a close final.

On the Men's side it was 2011 Champion Sheldon Bagrie-Howley (Southland), who proved too good winning the final 21-17 against Elliot Mason (Dunedin) in an all South Island affair.

The Men's Plate was won by Dean Drummond (Hawkes Bay) while it was Katelyn Inch (Canterbury) that came through to win the Women's Plate.

Special thanks to the Pakuranga Bowling Club and the Kittyhawk Bowling Club members for their commitment to this event over many years.
