Auckland Fail to Fire
31 Mar 2014
It was a disappointing weekend for Auckland at the National Intercentre held in Wellington with both the men and women failing to qualify for post section play.
The men were in contention early but with loses in 6 of the last 8 games they fell four points short of qualifying in third spot. Wellington on 28 points and Nelson on 24 points were the two sides to emerge from this section.
It was a similar story for the women who were drawn against the powerful Nelson side for a second year in a row. The Auckland Women also finished third in the section with 16 points behind Nelson (24 points) and Dunedin (20 Points).
The overall winners of the event were Canterbury Men and Nelson Women. A special mention to our neighbours North Harbour who fell just short in the Men's final losing to Canterbury.
