Shock results at Kittyhawks Zone One Singles
20 Jan 2014
The Kittyhawk National Under 20 Singles Qualifying for Zone One was played at Browns Bay Bowling Club yesterday in calm conditions. The event this year did provide anything but calmness with the non-qualifying of two New Zealand Under 18 Representatives Talor Duncan and Mackenzie Blucher.
The boys event produced some great bowls with Aiden Takaura (National Secondary Schools Pairs Champion) eliminating Talor Duncan in the final game of the day. Talor and Aiden exchanging shots with every bowl played and Talor holding multiple shots on two occasions and Aiden favouring the running shot to get out of trouble.
Not to be out done Liam Van Rijn went through unbeaten and convincing in winning his section.
The girls section had it’s own share of excitement with the shock elimination of Mackenzie Blucher by her friend and playing partner Alex Greer in the first game of the section. Mackenzie losing her next game to Savanna Lauder from Hikurangi Bowling Club.
Thank you to Bowls North Harbour and Browns Bay Bowling Club for hosting the event and to all the volunteers that make this event a great success.
