de Jongh narrowly misses trifecta
25 Nov 2013
The great run of Karen de Jongh (Carlton Cornwall) finally came to an end on Sunday at the Heartland Bank Auckland Women's Fours - but only just!
de Jongh and her team of Bev Crowe, Helen Van der Walt and Liz Badenhorst were narrowly defeated in the final by the Karen Hema skipped side of Tania Wrigley, Pam Coyle and Monique Tse (also of Carlton Cornwall) 16-17 in a tense final played at the Mangere Bowling Club.
Having previously won The Trusts New Zealand Open Women's Singles and Auckland Heartland Bank Women's Pairs as well as being runner up in the Aero Bowls Women's Triples at the NZ Open over the past two weeks de Jongh is the form player in Auckland at present.
The Women's 1-5 Year Fours was won by Robyn Reihana (s), Alzeena Levi, Mackenzie Blucher and Marion Hakaraia (Te Atatu Peninsula), who defeated Aggie Motu (s), Angela Temple, Helen Blick and Siosiana Simpson (Pt Chevalier) 18-13 in the final.
