Ruaporo Gallant in Defeat

08 Oct 2013

Black Jacks and Auckland Squad member Greg Ruaporo (Hillsboro) narrowly missed out on defending his Burnside Under-26 Invitation Singles title over the weekend at Burnside Bowling Club in Christchurch.

Ruaporo reached the semi finals with relative ease but could not get past rising newcomer Keanu Darby (Temuka Bowling Club) losing 21 - 14.

The final was taken out by Australian Under 25 Representative Sean Ingham who swept all before him winning the title in convincing fashion.

Earlier in the day Ingham ended the hopes of Auckland player Rory Soden (Carlton Cornwall) in the quarterfinals by a score of 21-2.  A top eight finish was none the less a very good performance by Soden who attended the tournament for the first time.

It was a disappointing weekend for the Kittyhawks National Under 20 Champion Scott Evans (Onehunga) as he failed to make the quarterfinals and then limped out injured in the first round of the Plate.
