Successful President's Day
23 Sep 2013
Auckland Bowls President Peter McKechnie hosted a successful Heartland Bank President's Day at his Club Henderson Bowls on Sunday. After heavy overnight rain the team at Henderson Bowls did a great job preparing the greens and the event was underway on schedule with three greens in use.
On A green the winners on the day were Onehunga and Districts narrowly beating Otahuhu Railway. Both teams were undefeated over the four games and it came down to ends won to split the teams. The lucky consolation prize was won by the team from Mt Eden.
On B Green it was Mangere that came out on top as the only team with four wins. In second was Pt Chevalier RSA. The consolation was won by Howick Women's.
On C Green the experienced team from Pt Chevalier was too good and took the spoils from the local Henderson side. Te Atatu Peninsula was drawn from the hat to win the consolation bottle of wine.
In concluding the event Auckland Bowls General Manager Phil Vyver thanked Ben Seale from Heartland Bank for their on-going support of Auckland Bowls and a number of clubs in Auckland and throughout New Zealand. Heartland Bank continues as the principal event sponsor for Auckland Bowls - a relationship that has now been in place for seven years.
Special thanks to Henderson President Kevin Pennycook and his team at Henderson Bowls for putting on a great day.
