Winter Interclub Underway

Winter Interclub Underway

08 Jul 2013

The first two rounds of Winter Interclub were completed on Sunday (7 July) in clear wintery conditions across Auckland.

In section One Glendowie Tuis took advantage of home soil and recorded four wins and a draw from their six games.  Onehunga All Stars are in second place with three wins and a draw closely followed by Avondale and Pt Chevalier who each recorded three wins.

Two clear favourites have emerged in Section Two with Blockhouse Bay and Glen Eden posting five wins on the day.  The rest of the section will need to work hard to claw back the advantage.

In Section Three the newly named St George (formally Papatoetoe RSA) are off to a strong start with four wins although they are closely followed by Howick who had three wins from as many starts having the bye in the second round.  They are the only undefeated side in the competition.

In Section Four Mangere and Okahu Bay are the early pace setters with five wins each.  East Tamaki and Bucklands Beach both had a bye which distorts the points table slightly at this early stage.

Edendale and Pakuranga lead the way in Section Five with nine points each followed by Avondale and Pringle Park with six points.

With the top team from each section and the next best three sides overall qualifying for post section quarterfinal play there is plenty to play for over the next couple of weeks.

Play continues this Sunday with rounds three and four.  Let`s hope for another fine Sunday!
